Three Sixty Pharmacy’s One Thousand Cranes Run held at IT Park Lahug last Sunday May 22, 2011 was a great success. This event was a Run for Japan program where proceeds will be donated to those victims of earthquake and tsunami. With regard to the One Thousand Cranes theme of this run, it is said that it is a tradition in Japan that if you have a wish you have to fold one thousand cranes in origami and by the time you finish folding your wish will be granted. This paper folding is called Sembazuru. It was said that there was a young girl who was a victim of the Hiroshima bomb made a wish that she will be healed and started to folded origami cranes but was able to finish folding with the help of her friends and relatives. With this regard, the theme of this fun run reflected the help that will be extended out of the proceeds for Japan victims.
I was joining the 6 kilometer run and after finishing the race, each of the runners were given a bag of goodies. There was also a sampling of the Gardenia bread which includes their available 3 variants in the market. Free samples were individually packed and given away to those who will approach the kiosk. I was also amazed to found out that there are lots of boiled bananas and sweet potatoes or camote which the runners indulged to eat after their long run. I think every one who joined the event was not disappointed specially those who won their prizes which are composed of 2 laptops, 2 ipads and a motorcycle. I was informed that those who joined the run are covered with free personal accident insurance but I do not know where to claim it but according to sources it is paperless. The personal accident insurance will expire this January 2012. To summarize, it is indeed true that running events sponsored by Three Sixty Pharmacy is all worthy. To think that proceeds of it will be extended to help the victims of natural calamities in Japan is one of the good thing to join the run. Aside from the donation, my cardio exercise was being put to test once again and benefited my well being to feel good and light after the run and the overall result is to be fit and healthy which is one of my reason in joining a run and I hope to aim more kilometers of running with an event sponsored by Three Sixty Pharmacy in the future.
